Testimonials

It's been said that if you want something done, ask the busiest person in the room to do it. It has also been said that within most organizations, 80 percent of the work gets done by 20 percent of the people. Those two maxims came to be because of people like Flo Federman. If it is a worthwhile cause or an organization benefiting Long Island, you can be sure Ms. Federman is involved if not leading the way. In fact, often when I am asked to participate in an event or organization I will use whether or not Ms. Federman is involved as a benchmark for deciding whether to get involved and, quite frankly, whether the endeavor stands a chance of succeeding. It should also be noted that Ms. Federman pursues these various community-oriented efforts while performing her "day-job" duties as marketing director for a leading Long Island accounting firm in an exemplary fashion.

It should also be noted that she does all this while possessing a most pleasant personality. She not only lights up a room when she enters, she creates an energy and a buzz that makes good things happen. Long Island is lucky to have her as part of its landscape, and I am lucky to include her among my circle of colleagues.

I have known Flo Federman for many years. As a matter of fact, I can unequivocally state that Flo has been one of my mentors in the field of marketing, communications and public relations. I entered this field with no particular education or experience. What I know today and what I have learned (and continue to learn) is a result of the mentoring of several women. Flo rises to the top of those mentors. Flo works in a very difficult environment. Accountants are demanding, analytical and often inflexible. It takes someone of great talent, creativity and perseverance to succeed as a marketing director in this field. Flo not only succeeds, but exceeds all expectations. This is the reason why she has been with her firm for as long as she has. In addition, Flo is a great leader. Under her tenure as president of PRPLI, she has breathed new life into the organization, has increased membership, and has built a board that contains several young PR professionals. Under her tutelage, these young professionals are being mentored to grow and achieve in their chosen field.

Flo's leadership and mentorship has really taught me a lot. She has served as more than a Board President to me - Flo is a motivator, a community leader, and a true role model for those of us in professional services marketing. She has taken me under her wing over the past three years and helped me to break out of my shell - something that can never be replaced. She is a true friend and I am forever in debt to her. There are some people that you meet in your professional life that you know will always be there for you - Flo is one of those people. Her involvement in Public Relations Professionals of Long Island, IABC, the Press Club of Long Island, the Association for Accounting Marketing, community organizations, and the business community is outstanding. Her dedication to our profession and the Long Island business community is unquestioned and unmatched.

During her tenure as PRPLI president, Flo has taken on the role of decision maker, diplomat, business woman, public relations expert, event planner and graphic designer. She has performed her duties with strength and tact. Her competency in this role has helped the public relations community on Long Island to flourish, by strengthening relationships and developing programs that address topics like best practices for technology applications and crisis management.

Flo's strong work ethic has allowed her to lead by example, inspiring those around her to go the extra mile needed for success. In addition, she still finds time to volunteer, mentor and lend her industry savvy to colleagues across the island. From something as simple as volunteering for a charity gift wrap station on a Saturday to guiding someone through a new committee post, Flo is quick to lend reliable support. Her impact on and influence in the Long Island business community is both beneficial and warranted.

I have known Flo Federman for approximately two years now and she continues to amaze me with all the hard work and dedication she puts into her career and professional activities as well. As a fellow Marketing Professional, I know that Flo is well-known and respected in the marketing community. Along with PRPLI, Flo also supports other marketing organizations such as the Association for Accounting Marketing (AAM) and the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC.) Flo has been the President of PRPLI for two years now and she dedicates a lot of her time to the organization and to the PR field. We all know that it is not easy being President of any organization, yet Flo makes it seem like a piece of cake. She is very organized and truly cares about the integrity of the organization. Flo constantly comes up with great ideas and is always thinking outside of the box. Flo has accomplished so much from the time of her Rising Star Award from PRPLI back in 2002 and she will continue to rise above expectations.

I first became acquainted with Flo Federman when I became a member of the Public Relations Professionals of Long Island (PRPLI). Her leadership as PRPLI's board chair inspired me to get more involved with the organization as a board member. Under her guidance, PRPLI increased its membership of exceptional marketing communications professionals and ensures their continued career growth through informative and targeted programs.

Flo Federman is known to me for the past 15 years through our mutual involvement in several career oriented professional associations including International Association of Business Communicators/Long Island Chapter (IABC/LI), Long Island Press Club (SPJ.Long Island), and Public Relations Professionals of Long Island (PRPLI). I can truly say that Flo fully dedicates herself to whatever activity in which she becomes involved; be it family, career or volunteer work. As a board member, she carries out whatever responsibility she volunteers to take on and works diligently to achieve outstanding end results.

I have worked alongside Flo on quite a few committees and, like others, am motivated by her level of involvement in all of the projects. As President of PRPLI, she has given many hours to the organization and has done an exemplary job. Under her leadership, PRPLI has reached new heights in services to its members and outreach to the journalism and public relations communities.
